So, here goes. Jeff called me on Wednesday or Thursday about it. I tried to talk him out of it and explore all the options with him...but no matter what we talked about we still arrived at the same conclusion - it's time to sell. So, realizing that the time has come, I'm torn. Just everyone else on the team, I LOVE BlogExplosion. I love what it stands for, I love what we've been able to acomplish, I love the members (except the annonying ones), and I especially love BE Radio since it's my baby. We're all going to miss it - seriously. And, I wonder what will happen in the future. Thank You I want to say a big thank you to everyone. First, to Jeff and Thomas - two of the coolest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with; to Rachel - one of the most skilled and patient people I know (I say patient because it's amazing she didn't go postal earlier lol); to Jenny and Meli who worked tirelessly approving blogs and answering support tickets respectively; and to all the forum moderators - ya'll do an amazing job; and to all the members - almost 50,000 of ya'll - your continued support makes the blogosphere a better place for all of us. So, who will we sell to? I can tell you that we've already had some interest from buyers. We've all worked very hard to make BlogExplosion the #1 blog traffic exchange and community site - we're not about to hand it over to someone who's going to destroy it. We operate under a simple principle - innovate and improve. We always came up with new ideas, but we were a small team. So, sometimes things were quick to happen (like BE Radio) and sometimes they took months to complete (like the forums or liveblogstats). There are SO many things we want to do with BE that we just can't. For instance, we've wanted to allow non-english blogs since the beginning but it's a huge undertaking - the necessary infrastructure to make it happen is immense and, again, we're just too small of a team. What will BE be like in the future? It's hard to say - but our hope is that it will be better - leaps and bounds better. Most of the BlogExplosion team have blogs of their own so we want to continue to use and enjoy BE as a service. I doubt any of us will still work for BE...although I'd like to see the same moderators stick around. These types of details will all have to be worked out at a later time. What happens to the BE team? As much as we're going to miss BE, we must move on. Let me make this clear: we did NOT decide to sell in order to do something else. However, Jeff & Thomas had a great idea for a website over a year and a half ago that they abandoned in order to persue BlogExplosion which we are going to give a shot. Rachel and I are going to join them on that adventure as well. Final Thoughts Until then, we're not giving up. We've all still got lots of work to do to keep BE running and in ship-shape. But it'll be tough knowing that our days are numbered. I hereby raise a glass too the past, the future, good times, and the bad times, and to BlogExplosion. They're using a piece of software that goes out and gather's posts by keywords and copies them to a new blog. The point? Once the site has gathered some "importance" it's used as a platform for launching another SPAM attack on Google to increase their link's values. Now, it's only 7 days away! It's been described as a combination of 24 and Battlestar Galactica. This podcast is going to be a drama series which will arrive in installments via a podcast. Moreover, listener feedback through it's website will help to mold and evolve the story as time passes. I've been fortunate to receive a sneak peak of what's to come - and it's really going to be great. Anyone who like drama, sci-fi, suspense, or just good storytelling is going to love it!
